App Cleaner & Uninstaller update adds app network controls
Recently, the well-known Mac software uninstaller and cleanup tool App Cleaner & Uninstaller released a major version 10 update, upgrading from 9.x to 10 and bringing many changes and a brand-new experience.
After this update, the sidebar on the left side of the home page has been reordered to: Applications, Updates, Startup Programs, Network Access, Extensions.

To simplify the interface hierarchy, the original leftover files cleanup feature has not been removed; its entry point has simply been integrated into the Applications module. After uninstalling an app, you can clean up leftovers in the same flow; the steps are the same as before, just with the entry point in a new location.

Let's take a look at the new features below.

Network access management
Want to know whether apps on your Mac are secretly connecting to the internet? This new module is designed for exactly that.
The first time you open the "Network Access" feature, you need to manually enable network monitoring. Once enabled, you can:
Block any app from accessing the network;
View app traffic in real time or by time period;
See what apps are doing on the network.
Traffic analysis and processing are all done locally on your Mac. Once enabled, you can immediately track how local apps connect to the network, such as viewing incoming/outgoing data volume.

For apps you don't think need network access, you can disable their network permission with one click. For unfamiliar apps, you can launch or search for them with one click from the context menu.
The page also includes summary information that briefly explains what the app is for and why it needs internet access. For apps whose network activity you don't need to track, you can also add them to the Exclusion List.

App update management improvements
App Cleaner & Uninstaller 10 also improves app update management. The main improvement is that it can identify whether an app was installed via Homebrew.
For these apps, when you update software within App Cleaner & Uninstaller 10, it automatically runs the corresponding command, such as brew upgrade --cask apparency, for a better update experience.

Now users can update apps from the Mac App Store, developer websites, and Homebrew in one place, no longer needing to open each update entry individually. You can even update command-line tools installed via Homebrew with one click.

More upgrade highlights
Many apps request a bunch of permissions when they run, scattered across different places in System Settings, making them a hassle to manage.
Open the Applications feature in App Cleaner & Uninstaller, bring up the context menu on the app you want to manage, and you can see which permissions the app has requested. Camera, microphone, and file access are all visible at a glance, and you can choose "Revoke All" or "Revoke Individual".

App Cleaner & Uninstaller can also add a "helper" icon to the menu bar.
Click to open the panel, where you can quickly uninstall/update apps, or turn off an app's startup and background network permissions with one click.

Existing users can upgrade
Existing users who purchased version 8.x or 9.x can upgrade to version 10.x!

Nowadays there are all kinds of AI tools, and people install and uninstall many of them.
Worried that uninstalling won't clean everything up? Want to better manage these tools' network access, startup, or permissions to use the microphone, camera, and more?

Other recent major version updates
In addition to App Cleaner & Uninstaller 10, two other apps have recently received major version updates.
CleanShot X
As a popular Mac screenshot and screen recording tool, CleanShot X has upgraded from 4.x to 5.0 this time, with the highlight being the new Studio Mode feature.

It also adds a built-in video editor. After recording, you can directly trim clips, add smooth zoom effects that follow the mouse movement, smooth out less fluid mouse trajectories, and add motion blur and background effects.
After recording is complete, you can still adjust details such as mouse style, key display, and camera view.

For those who often create software tutorials and operation demos, it reduces the hassle of switching back and forth between a screen recorder and video editing software; materials can be organized locally.

Bartender 7
Menu bar management tool Bartender has also upgraded from 6.x to 7, with a redesigned interface and interaction experience for macOS 27 (Golden Gate).

The new version adds a "Command Bar" that supports searching and controlling menu bar items with the keyboard.

Automation features have also been improved, for example automatically showing battery status when the power is disconnected, or adjusting menu bar items based on Wi-Fi connection status.
The all-new Bartender Bar supports setting its appearance independently, adapts to the Liquid Glass visual style, and no longer requires enabling "Screen Recording" permission.

Bartender 7 is now available on LIZHI.SHOP. The licenses sold on LIZHI.SHOP support activating versions 6.x and 7.x; you can choose which to install based on your macOS version.
